5.1 Vocational Training (dual training, § 16a AufenthG)
Purpose: Qualified vocational training in a recognized apprenticeship profession in Germany; application via TLScontact.
Requirements:
- Training position/contract with a recognized training company.
- Generally, German language skills at the B1 level (at least A2 if a preparatory language course is planned), depending on the profession/training provider.
- Sufficient financial resources: training allowance or a combination of allowance + blocked account.
Documents: Training contract (duration, remuneration, place of work), school diplomas (KCSE, others if applicable), language certificates, resume, letter of motivation, proof of financial resources, health insurance.
5.2 Internships and Training Programs
Purpose: Study-related EU internships or in-company training programs; regulated by Sections 16e, 15 of the German Training Regulation (BeschV); applications accepted via TLScontact.
Documents include, among others: internship agreement (duration, compensation, duties), proof of study relevance in Kenya or elsewhere, proof of financial support, health insurance, and, if applicable, approval from the Federal Employment Agency.
5.3 Measures for the Recognition of Foreign Professional Qualifications (Section 16d of the Residence Act)
