Purpose: Other types of employment not covered by the standard skilled worker pathways (e.g., certain specialists, managers, seconded employees).
Requirements: Relevant basis in the Employment Regulation, often requiring prior approval from the Federal Employment Agency; concrete job offer.
Documents (excerpt): Employment contract (job description, salary, working hours), proof of qualifications, resume, BA prior approval (if necessary), health insurance, pension plan if applicable for those over 45.
6.2 Short-term quota-based employment
Purpose: Seasonal/short-term work in certain sectors with annual quotas (e.g., agriculture, hospitality).
Requirements:
- Prior approval from the Federal Employment Agency.
- Employment for a maximum of 8 months within a 12-month period.
Documents: Federal Employment Agency prior approval, employment contract (job description, duration, compensation), proof of qualifications/experience, standard visa documents.
6.3 Jobseeker Visa (Job Search)
Purpose: Up to 6 months’ stay to search for a position matching one’s qualifications; target group is university graduates.
Requirements:
- Completed university degree (German or recognized as equivalent; ANABIN/ZAB).
- Sufficient financial resources for the entire stay (blocked account, letter of financial commitment, bank statements).
Documents: Resume, cover letter with job search strategy, proof of previous job search activities, proof of financial resources/insurance, university transcripts.
6.4 Employment for religious/charitable reasons
Purpose: Work with religious communities or charitable organizations; separate waiting list in Nairobi, regulations under § 19c of the Residence Act (AufenthG)/Residence Regulation (BeschV).
Documents include confirmation from the organization, job description, proof of financial support, and, if applicable, approval from the Federal Employment Agency (BA).
6.5 Professional Drivers, Re-entry, School Attendance
The appointment waiting list has separate categories for professional drivers, re-entry (re-entry after a prolonged stay abroad), and school attendance; subject to general work/residence rules (specific school placement, host family/boarding school, proof of financial support).
